(updated April 14. 2026)
The recent conflict in the Middle East region is a serious cause of concern for our upcoming MICCAI 2026 conference in Abu Dhabi this October and we understand that many of you have questions. The FAQs below address common questions we are receiving and will be updated as new information comes available.
Given the current situation in the Middle East, will MICCAI 2026 still be held in Abu Dhabi?
The MICCAI Society Board and MICCAI 2026 Organizing Committee are closely monitoring updates from international authorities and local partners. The safety and well-being of our attendees, presenters, exhibitors, and staff remain our highest priority. We will provide updates promptly.
Will MICCAI 2026 be cancelled?
No. Our annual meeting will still take place in person.
Are the organizers considering alternative locations for the conference?
We have changed the location of our conference. Following an extensive review, the MICCAI Board has decided to relocate MICCAI 2026 to Strasbourg, France. The dates will also change slightly to September 27 - October 1, 2026.
Why was Strasbourg, France chosen as the new location?
The MICCAI Society Board and Dekon Group considered a number of potential relocation options in Area 2 (Europe, Middle East and Africa). Given our space requirements, venue availability and affordability considerations, Strasbourg, France was most cost effective to meet our needs.
Will it be possible to attend MICCAI 2026 virtually?
Currently, a virtual attendance option is not in our plan.
Will the conference be held in the Middle East at another time?
MICCAI 2029 will be held in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Teams that have already submitted bids for MICCAI 2029 are welcome to revise their submissions to host the conference in Abu Dhabi.
