Welcome to the Summer 2025 edition of the MICCAI Quarterly!
by Marius George Linguraru, President
We’re excited to bring you important news from the MICCAI Society, along with updates and highlights from the MICCAI 2025 Conference, set to take place this fall in Daejeon, South Korea. From the latest additions to the scientific program to expanded networking opportunities and unique features inspired by this year’s host city and community, there's plenty to look forward to.
Our commitment to transparency and inclusivity is a priority and we're in the process of streamlining the annual election process for the MICCAI Society Board of Directors. The 2025 election will kick off at the MICCAI Conference this fall with presentations from the candidates, and in this issue, you'll find information on what's changing and how to get involved—including how to nominate a fellow member.
As MICCAI 2025 approaches, General Co-Chair Jinah Park gives us a preview of what the Organizing Committee has been building around this year’s themes: Pan-Asian Connection and From Concept to Clinical. This year marks another record-breaking milestone, with nearly 3,500 paper submissions and 195 satellite event proposals, highlighting the continued growth and enthusiasm of our community. Take a closer look as Satellite Events Chairs Michal Kozubek, Luping Zhou (Workshops), Fernando Bello (Tutorials), and Nicholas Heller (Challenges) share their perspectives on emerging trends reflected in this year’s Satellite Events line-up.
Are you looking for a mentor or interested in becoming one? The MICCAI Society Mentorship Program has coordinated with the MICCAI Student Board, RISE-MICCAI, and Women in MICCAI to expand mentorship and career development opportunities. Whether you're seeking guidance or eager to support the next generation of researchers, there’s a place for you in our growing community. Read more here.
Multiple MICCAI registration and travel grants are also available, including the MICCAI Society Registration and Travel Grants, RISE Travel Grants, and the MIRASOL Travel Grants. We expect to share updates on this year’s NIH Awards soon. We encourage you to check eligibility and apply early, as most awards are granted on a rolling basis.
On behalf of the Board, thank you for your continued dedication and engagement in supporting the MICCAI Society through your research, collaboration, and community building. We look forward to seeing many of you in Daejeon this September!
